Shaka Smart Likely To Stay At VCU, According To Reports

John Rothstein of CBS Sports Network is reporting that Shaka Smart will more than likely be staying as head coach of the VCU Rams as he tweeted earlier today:

Sources confirm that unless something drastic changes in the next 24 hours, Shaka Smart will stay at VCU.....

This is good news for Rams fans, as earlier reports indicated that Illinois was trying everything they could to get Smart to fill their head coach vacancy. Smart, who has been the head coach at VCU since 2009, has achieved a record of 84-27 while leading the team to two tourney appearances and a Final Four in 2011. He is currently in the first year of an eight-year contract extension that he signed with VCU following the 2011 season.
