Maryland Recruiting: Terrapins Get Commitment From Sam Cassell Jr., According To Reports

Maryland basketball has received word that Sam Cassell Jr. of Baltimore has given a verbal commitment.

The Maryland Terrapins basketball team received some good recruiting news Sunday afternoon, when Brian Snow of Scout.com reported that 6-foot-4 combo guard Sam Cassell Jr. of Notre Dame Prep in Baltimore has committed to Maryland.

If the name sounds familiar, he is the son of former NBA player Sam Cassell.

Cassell Jr. is rated a three star recruit by Scout.com, and has received interest from a number of schools including UConn, Butler, Purdue, and South Florida. Cassell was not ranked by Scout.com in their top national, state, or position ratings.

Cassell becomes the sixth player to give a verbal commitment to Maryland for the 2012-2013 season
