The Marquette Golden Eagles hold the early advantage in their Saturday afternoon battle with the Georgetown Hoyas for second place in the Big East conference, leading 39-29 at halftime in Milwaukee.
The normally stout Georgetown defense has allowed Marquette to shoot 46.2 percent in the first half. Jae Crowder has led the way for the Golden Eagles, scoring 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the half.
Hollis Thompson has been the star so far for the Hoyas, scoring 10 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out two assists. Henry Sims has chipped in five points and six rebounds for John Thompson III's club.
The Hoyas made just 10 of 30 shots in the first half and, even worse, just six of 13 free throw attempts.
