When the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals face off, it is sure to be an intense game and Sunday has not disappointed so far.
There is no score between the Flyers and Caps after 20 minutes, but there has been some aggressive hockey on both ends of the ice.
There have been 20 combined shots (the Caps had 12) as well as 21 hits. The Caps utilized a strong forecheck to keep the Flyers pinned down in the zone, while the Flyers have made it a point to hit everything wearing red.
Things came to a head early in the period when Troy Brouwer and Scott Hartnell dropped the gloves. After Brouwer took out Erik Gustafsson along the boards, Hartnell objected to the hit and he and Brouwer squared off. Both got their shots in before Brouwer took Hartnell to the ice.
The Flyers had one power play chance, but did not convert.
