BALLSTON, Va. - There was nothing out of the ordinary at the Washington Capitals' morning skate at Kettler Capitals Iceplex Tuesday as the team prepared for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Michal Neuvirth was the first goalie off the ice Tuesday, so it is likely that he will start his sixth consecutive game Tuesday. Neuvirth is 3-2-0 in his last five starts, allowing 11 goals on 128 shots. Tomas Vokoun will back up and according to head coach Dale Hunter, he is "100 percent" after sitting out of Sunday's 1-0 loss with the Philadelphia Flyers with a lower-body injury. Hunter said that he simply wants to Vokoun to get in more practices before he returns.
Mike Knuble, Roman Hamrlik and John Erskine took part in extra work, so they will sit as healthy scratches. Keith Aucoin - a former Hurricane - will return to the lineup at Knuble's expense.
