MEAC Tournament 2012, Hampton Vs. Savannah State Final Score: Pirates Pull Upset

The Hampton Pirates could potentially be putting together a miracle run in the MEAC Tournament. Following their first round win over Morgan State on Tuesday, Hampton pulled off a big upset on Wednesday night, defeating the No. 1 seeded Savannah State Tigers 59-46.

Hampton finished the regular season with a 6-10 record in the MEAC, which included a home loss to Savannah St. in December. The Tigers were co-favorites for the tournament along with Norfolk State, who face Howard later on Wednesday night.

Christopher Tolson led the Pirates and all scorers with 16 points, while three Pirates scored in double figures. Hampton was great defensively and forced Savannah St. into a terrible shooting night. The Tigers shot just 27 percent from the floor.
