A 4 p.m. press conference has been scheduled down at Virginia Tech. Reports are that it will have to do with the firing of men's basketball head coach Seth Greenberg. David Teel, a writer for the Daily Press in Newport News, Va. tweeted the report to his account.

If it is indeed true that Seth Greenberg is out as coach of the Hokies, he will leave behind a team that he coached for nine seasons, earning a 167-117 overall record in Blacksburg. His ACC record is at 66-71, but the Hokies won nine games or more in the conference regular season four times. Greenberg led the Hokies to one NCAA Tournament appearance in 2007 and five NIT appearances, including four straight between 2008 and 2011. This past year was the first since 2006 in which the Hokies didn't play in any postseason tournament.
Chris Miller of Comcast Sports Network also says that the news conference at 4 p.m. Monday will be to announce the firing of Greenberg. The press conference can be viewed on Virginia Tech's official athletic website.

The Hokies now will be looking for a new head coach to try and rebound from a forgetful 2011-12 men's basketball season.
