The Washington Nationals were able to pick up their second win of the series against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday evening. The Nats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning when a Rick Ankiel double plated the first run of the game which was followed up by a Jordan Zimmerman single to push the lead to 2-0.
Zimmerman on the mound had a nice outing, pitching six innings, allowing only four hits and striking out six batters. The Nats piled on some runs in the sixth inning eventually pushing their overall lead to 7-2. With the win, the Nationals hold on to the best record in baseball and 5-2 on the road.
