2012 Kentucky Derby Post Positions: Done Talking Starts On Gate 17

The post positions for the 2012 Kentucky Derby were revealed on Wednesday during a ceremony at Churchill Downs. The post position draw is important for the Kentucky Derby as chances for contenders can be dictated a bit by where they start the race on Saturday.

Maryland based colt Done Talking received the No. 17 draw, starting the Derby on the far outside. This can be a big detriment for a horse and jockey because it can make the race a bit longer than horses starting on the rail or in the middle of the pack.

The draw is as follows:

1. Daddy Long Legs
2. Optimizer
3. Take Charge Indy
4. Union Rags
5. Dullahan
6. Bodemeister
7. Rousing Sermon
8. Creative Cause
9. Trinniberg
10. Daddy Knows Best
11. Alpha
12. Perspective
13. Went The Day Well
14. Hansen
15. Gemologist
16. El Padrino
17. Done Talking
18. Sabercat
19. I'll Have Another
20. Liaison
