Yes, you read that correctly. Washington Nationals phenom Bryce Harper is looking forward to his team's upcoming visit this week to Citizens Bank Park to take on the rival Philadelphia Phillies, with only one minor hesitation. Via Dan Kolko of MASN:
Harper on going to Philly: "Hopefully I get a couple boos. I’m excited to get there & play. Hopefully they don’t throw any batteries at me."
— Dan Kolko (@masnKolko) May 20, 2012
Harper is likely referring to an August 1999 incident in which Philadelphia fans threw trash and even "D" batteries at Cardinals outfielder J.D. Drew.
Of course, if he was a historian of the game, Harper might also be referring to Philadelphia fans throwing batteries at Dick Allen, a member of their own team, in the 1960s. Seriously, enough with the batteries, folks.
