2012 ACC Baseball Tournament Day 2 Recap: Parity Reigns In Pool B

In addition to Virginia's 3-2 win over Clemson, Thursday saw two other games in the 2012 ACC Baseball Tournament.

Miami (Fla.) 5, North Carolina 3: Dale Carey's two-run home run in the bottom of the 7th inning broke a 3-3 tie against the second-seeded Tar Heels. The loss ended North Carolina's winning streak at 14 games, but Miami didn't secure the win until Colin Moran struck out looking with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth.

North Carolina head coach Mike Fox was ejected after the game for arguing the game-ending strikeout. Under NCAA rules, Fox is suspended for Saturday's game against North Carolina State.

Wake Forest 7, N.C. State 3: Jack Fischer allowed three earned runs on eight hits over eight-plus innings as the Demon Deacons rebounded from Wednesday's shutout loss to North Carolina. Wake Forest took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the 3rd to make the score 4-2. The inning included three wild pitches and a two-run double by Grant Shamley.

With these results, all four members of Pool B are tied with 1-1 records. Miami takes on Wake Forest in Friday's only Pool B game.
