The Virginia Cavaliers knocked off the Florida State Seminoles in their final game of the 2012 ACC Baseball Tournament.
Virginia outfielders Derek Fisher (left), Colin Harrington (right) and Brandon Downes (center) had two RBI's each for the Cavaliers as third baseman Stephen Bruno contributed one RBI to Virginia's cause. Pitcher Artie Lewicki got the start on the mound for Virginia and the win as he pitched seven complete innings while giving up three hits, no runs and walking two Seminole batters and striking out four.
For Florida State, offense was obviously hard to generate. Second baseman Devon Travis had two hits for Florida State as designated hitter Jayce Boyd, catcher Stephen McGee and first baseman John Nogowski each had a hit for the Seminoles. Mike Compton took the loss on the hill for Florida State as he pitched five innings, gave up six hits, one earned run while walking two and striking out as many Virginia batters.
