After two quarters of play in the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship game, the Loyola Grehounds have a 5-3 lead over the Maryland Terrapins at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.
The Greyhounds have used goals by Davis Butts, Mike Sawyer, Eric Lusby, Pat Byrnes and Phil Dobson give them the current lead. Two assists by Chris Layne helped the Greyhounds out.
The Maryland Terrapins have had goals scored by Mike Chanenchuk, Jesse Bernhardt and Kevin Cooper. John Haus has been the most aggressive Terrapin player in this game, recording four shots.
With two quarters of lacrosse still yet to be played, the question is now whether or not the Greyhounds can hold onto their slim two-goal lead. If goaltender Jack Runkel can continue his strong play, Loyola should win the title.
For the Terrapins, goaltender Niko Amato needs to settle down and the offense needs to pass the ball around better to get better opportunities to score and cut the deficit.
