2012 French Open Results: Novak Djokovic Overcomes Early Struggles For Win

The first round of the 2012 French Open continued on Monday from Roland Garros. Unlike Sunday, which featured Andy Roddick being sent home early, there were no major upsets.

Novak Djokovic struggled early in his matchup against Potito Starace. The top seed needed a tiebreaker for the first set, and then stormed back in the second and third. Starace fell back to Earth with 25 unforced errors as the favorite went on to win.

Roger Federer entered the record books with his 233rd win. Federer beat Germany's Tobias Kamke on Monday to earn his milestone win, tying him with Jimmy Connors for the most wins since the start of the Open era.

On the women's side, No. 1 seed Victoria Azarenka struggled early against Alberta Brianti before storming back for the win. Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams are in action as the first round continues on Tuesday.
