After a late surge, I'll Have Another managed to dramatically battle it's way to the front of the pack in order to win the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby. After heavily favored Bodemeister led the race for the majority of the run, I'll Have Another made a late surge in the final 300 yards to pull ahead for good.
While the win by I'll Have Another was slightly unexpected, the most surprising result was that heavy favorite Union Rags was barely in contention. Stuck at the back of the pack for much of the race, Union Rags finished in the seventh spot after originally being given a 9-2 odds of winning.
Bodemeister was favored at 6-1 odds and lead for almost the entire race except for the final 300 yards.
