U.S. Open 2012 Sectional Qualifier: Tee Times, Pairings And More

The U.S. Open has always been a favorite among fans because, technically speaking, any golfer in America has a chance to participate. The first round of qualifying for the tournament, in which amateurs and recreational players alike could play, were held in mid-May. The winners of those "local qualifiers" advanced to one of 11 "sectional qualifiers", with the winners of that stage advancing to the official U.S. Open, taking place June 14-17 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.

This year, one of the 11 sectional qualifiers sites is Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland. Woodmont has been a regular tournament site for both the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women's Open sectional qualifying, hosting the event for 21 years straight at one point.

The one-day, 36-hole sectional qualifying tournament will take place Monday, June 4th, with the earliest tee times at 7:00 a.m. 78 players are in the field, 13 amateurs and 65 professionals. As per the USGA, the number of qualifying spots are determined "by the field's numbers and strength."
