US Open Golf Qualifying 2012 Results: Shane Bertsch Finishes On Top At Woodmont

Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md., was the scene of a sectional qualifying play for the 2012 US Open on Monday. Qualifiers at the sectional rounds will get an invite to the US Open in San Francisco on June 14-17. In play at Woodmont on Monday, Shane Bertsch of Parker, Co., came out on top, shooting a total of 4-under in two rounds of play.

Bertsch shot a 69 in the first round and a 71 in the second round for a total of 140. The next highest finishers came in at 2-under.

Fred Funk, the former Maryland golf coach and PGA winner, finished at 1-over, tied for the 11th spot after two rounds. Ji Soo Park, a freshman golfer from the University of Virginia, finished at 5-over, tied for 39th place. Drew Weaver withdrew after shooting an 82 in the first round.

Qualifying spots are determined by the field's "numbers and strength" according to the USGA.
