The Washington Nationals hold the best record in the MLB due in large part to their pitching staff, which will have a chance to show off two of their aces in the 2012 All-Star Game with Stephen Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez being named to the National League team in addition to shortstop Ian Desmond.

Strasburg has been stellar in 2012, going 9-3 with an ERA of 2.81 while striking out 122 batters in 93 innings. Gonzalez has been just as good, if not better, as he has pitched to a record of 10-3 with an ERA of 2.78 while striking out 108 hitters in 90.2 innings.

Desmond has been a steady bat in the Nationals lineup this year, hitting .276 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs.

19-year-old Bryce Harper was not named as a reserve for the NL, however he is up for the 34th and final roster spot as a part of the MLB's "FInal Vote" promotion in which fans can vote Harper into the final spot.
