George Washington's David Pellom Has Wrist Surgery, Will Miss 4 To 5 Months

George Washington men's basketball player David Pellom will miss four to five months after undergoing wrist surgery this week. Pellom was a crucial contributor on the inside last season for Mike Lonergan's club but he will now likely be sidelined right up to the start of the 2012 season. Ben Standig of CSNWashington.com spoke with the Colonials' big man about the summer setback:

"I am disappointed in the timing of this injury at the start of my senior campaign, but getting it addressed surgically will allow me to return as soon as possible," Pellom said in a statement released by the program. "I was looking forward to taking the court with my teammates in Italy next month, but now I'll just look forward to returning to action that much more in the fall."

Pellom scored just better than ten points per game last year and was expected to be a senior leader for Lonergan. Now he will definitely miss the team's trip to Italy at the end of the summer and his return for the opener on November 10th could even be in question.
