The 2012 British Open begins on Thursday, and with a prestigious tournament and a field full of world class golfers, anything can happen. A complete schedule, television coverage information and more is below.
Golfers to watch this year include the 2011 British Open champion Darren Clarke. Tiger Woods won the Open in 2006, and with his recent form looking better he's as good a bet as any to do it again. Both No. 1 ranked Luke Donald and No. 3 ranked Lee Westwood have yet to win a major in their careers. The pressure is mounting for the British Open to be their first. Phil Mickleson has put in some poor performances lately, but he says he's looking forward to playing at Lancashire and getting his game back in order.
The Mid-Atlantic region is represented in the tournament: Johnson Wagner played at Virginia Tech, James Driscoll played at Virgnia and Marc Leishman is an Australian who makes his home in Virginia Beach. A complete list of players can be found here.
