British Open Leaderboard 2012: Tiger Woods Starts Strong Early

With well over two-thirds of the field already teeing off on Thursday morning, several players have already made moves to the top or the bottom of the leaderboard. Among those players off to a hot start is winner of the 2012 AT&T National, Tiger Woods.

After starting four under par through the first nine holes, Woods cooled on the second half of his first round, shooting one over through the subsequent six holes. His three under par score earned Woods a tie for the fifth spot on the leaderboard, making him the second highest ranking American behind Zach Johnson who is in third at five under par.

The players with ties to the DC region haven't had as much luck. University of Virginia graduate James Driscoll is outside the top 100 after shooting six over par in the first round. Things weren't a whole lot better for Virginia Tech's who shot three over par and sits in a tie for the 83rd spot.
