2012 Wimbledon Results: Maria Kirilenko Advances To Quarterfinals, Maria Sharapova Upset

Wimbledon is going through its fourth round at the All-England club. Maria Kirilenko of Russia, the girlfriend of Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin, won her fourth round match against No. 30 ranked Shuai Peng of China, 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3.

In the Match, Kirilenko won 75 percent of first serve points won as compared to 58% of Peng's. Kirilenko also dominated break points, winning 54% compared to 29% by Peng. Kirilenko also had half the unforced errors that Peng did, 12 and 24 respectively.

Kirilenko now advances to the quarterfinals where she will face No. 3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, who defeated Camila Giorgi of Italy in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

The big upset on the women's side is top seed Maria Sharapova losing to No. 15 Sabine Lisicki of Germany, 6-4, 6-3. Lisicki will move on to face fellow countrywoman and No. 8 seed Angelique Kerber. The winner of that match will face the winner of the Kirilenko-Radwanska match.

Other notable winners in the fourth round include No. 2 Victoria Azarenka, No. 4 Petra Kvitova and No. 6 Serena Williams. No. 21 Roberta Vinci was upset in her match against Tamira Paszek of Austria, 6-2, 6-2.

On the Men's side, only three matches have been completed with No. 1 Novak Djokovic, No. 3 Roger Federer and No. 26 Mikhail Youzhny all winning their matches. American Mardy Fish currently leads No. 5 Jo-Wilfred Tsonga after one set, but they are currently in a delay.
