Team USA Basketball had little trouble dismissing the French team 98-71 on Sunday in their opening game of the 2012 London Olympics. The U.S. squad, led by Kevin Durant's 22 points, put a sluggish first quarter start behind them to outscore the French team by 26 points over the final three quarters of the game.
In addition to Durant's 22 points, Kevin Love chipped in 14 points and three rebounds with LeBron James contributing nine points, eight assists and five rebounds. Carmelo Anthony added nine points and nine boards for the victorious American squad.
France was led by Ali Traore's 12 points, with NBA star Tony Parker adding 10. Burgeoning Washington Wizards big man Kevin Serpaphin scored just three points on one of five shooting from the floor in limited minutes.
