2012 London Olympics: United States Finishes Seventh In Equestrian Team Eventing Jumping

The United States finished a distant seventh place out of 13 teams in the equestrian team eventing jumping competition on Tuesday, failing to earn a medal. Among the five riders competing for Team USA in the event was Will Coleman of Gordsonville, Virginia.

Earning the gold in the competition was Germany, scoring 133.7 points in an event where points are to be avoided. The Great Britain team finished just behind Germany with 138.2 points and rounding out the podium was New Zealand, earning a bronze with a 144.4 point performance.

United States finished far off the lead with 208.6 points, behind sixth place Australia that finished with 186.4 points.

Among the competitors in the event was Zara Phillips, granddaughter of the queen of England, who helped Great Britain earn the silver medal. Coleman rode a German Westphalian named Twizzel.
