2012 London Olympics: Michael Phelps Takes Silver In 200m Butterfly, Misses Gold By 0.05 Seconds

Michael Phelps apparently is human. the Man that had won 14 gold medals entering these London games, the Baltimore, Md. native has yet to reach the top spot on the medal podium yet. In Wednesday's 200m Butterfly final, Phelps had the lead through about 150 meters. In the last 50, South Africa's le Clos Chad rallied and out-touched Phelps at the wall to win the gold medal by 0.05 seconds.

Chad's time was officially 1:52.96 while Phelps' was 1:53.01. Japan's Matsuda Takeshi claimed the bronze medal with a time of 1:53.21. To put it in perspective, former Olympian Summer Sanders was quick to remind people over twitter, that this is the first time in nearly a decade that Phelps has lost this event.

Phelps still has four other events that he will be participating in at London and did help the 4x100m team win the silver medal. So it wouldn't be fair to already call his time in London a failure.
