London 2012 Olympics Medal Count: Team USA Tied With China With 23 Medals

After four days, the U.S. is atop the medal count, tied with China in total medals with 23. On Tuesday, it got a lift from Baltimore's own Michael Phelps, who anchored the U.S. men's 4x200m relay team that edged France by more than two seconds to capture the gold medal. Phelps grabbed the 19th medal of his Olympic career, and for the U.S., it finished with its 23rd of the 2012 Games.

It also received gold medals in women's gymnastics and then from Vincent Hancock in men's skeet shooting to keep it near the top of the count.
