Vijay Singh, who has not won a PGA Tour event since the Deutsche Bank Championship in September 2008, currently has a one stroke lead after his first round at the Greenbrier Classic at The Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Singh made his biggest move on the back nine, hitting six birdies including four in a row to finish the round. He is one stroke ahead of Americans Jeff Maggert and Martin Flores.
Tiger Woods, who won last week's AT&T National at Congressional Country Club did not have a good start to his tournament, finishing the first round with a one-over 71. Woods started on the back nine and was wholly inconsistent the entire round. While Woods managed to hit four birdies in the first round, that was negated by three bogeys and a double bogey on hole No. 17. He is currently tied for ninety-eighth place in the tournament.
