Greenbrier Classic 2012: Play Suspended Due To Darkness

The second round of the Greenbrier Classic has been suspended until Saturday, due to inclement weather, according to multiple reports. The weather had been an obstacle for golfers for much of the day, with play being suspended for two hours earlier Friday. Webb Simpson, the 2012 U.S. Open winner, is currently in the lead at 9-under par through the tournament and 4-under for the day.

Interesting notes on this one: a couple of marquee names missed the cut, and the weather likely had something to do with it. Neither Phil Mickelson nor Tiger Woods will return to action on Saturday, with both missing the cut.

Five golfers are tied for second place, all just a stroke behind Simpson at 8-under par. Charlie Beljan was having the best round on Friday, despite the weather, going 8-under par for the day, which is also his tournament score.
