The Washington Capitals drafted 19-year-old Russian goalie Sergei Kostenko in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft with their final pick. The 5-11, 187 pound Kostenko has some familiarity with the Caps as he grew up with current Washington defenseman, Dmitri Orlov.
But issues with his visa has made it difficult for him to join his new team and the Caps are looking to have him participate in their 2012 Development Camp which begins on July 14th at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Ballston.
But according to this tweet from Igor Kleyner, Kostenko's visa issues could be resolved soon and he may be able to join his fellow draftees at KCI next week:
#caps dev camp roster may get a +1. G Sergei Kostenko, 7th rd pick is trying to work through his visa problems, hopes to be at KCI next week
