Georgetown Football Holding Open Tryouts For Kickers

Via the Georgetown University student paper, The Hoya, we present a project that could lead to some genuine hilarity: Georgetown is holding open tryouts for kickers Thursday, August 30 at the school's Multi-Sport Field.

Here's the explanation from the paper's Hoya Paranoia blog:

Brett Weiss, one of the best placekickers in Hoyas history, graduated in May. He connected on 16 of 22 field goals and 31 of 34 PAT attempts last season and earned second team all-Patriot League honors at the end of the campaign.

The Blue and Gray have only one other placekicker on the roster last season, rising junior Devon Papandrew. Although he practiced with Weiss for the past two seasons, Papandrew has never kicked either a field goal or a PAT for Georgetown.

Yeah, that's not gonna be awkward for Papandrew in any way.

Georgetown finished with a record of 8-3 last season, their first winning record since 1999. They open their season September 1 at Wagner Davidson. (Thanks @BobbyBancroft)

By the way, if you're not a student at Georgetown, please do not actually try out for this. We're sure that coach Kevin Kelly does not need any cranks swarming around the field.
