On Tuesday afternoon, The Big East officially announced via press release that Mike Aresco has been named the conference's new commissioner after he was unanimously elected by the league's collective group of Presidents.
Aresco will replace Joseph Bailey who had been acting as interim commissioner after John Marinatto resigned in May.
Prior to his appointment, Aresco acted as the Executive Vice President of Programming at CBS and was responsible for all college programming at the network. In addition, he negotiated the contracts for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, regular season basketball games and football bowl games.
His most notable achievement likely came in the form of his role in the negotiation that acquired the exclusive rights to NCAA Men's Basketball through 2024 for the CBS Television Network.
