At the famed Black Course at Bethpage State Park in New York, much attention will be paid to Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy during the first event of the FedEx Cup. Woods enters golf's version of a postseason as pre-event No. 1, with McIlroy at No. 3.
Jason Dufner, sitting at a quiet No. 2, will be sure to factor into both this weekend's action at Bethpage Black as well as in the FedEx Cup moving forward.
Former Virginia Tech golfer Johnson Wagner is among the top 20 in points standings headed into this weekend's action, with a chance to make an extended run at the Cup, 1,088 points behind the leader Woods. Fellow Hokie Brandon de Jonge enters this weekend's event at No. 41 in the points standings, having dropped from No. 40 in the last week of "regular season" action in the PGA.
A strong showing at Bethpage's The Barclays this weekend from either would mean plenty to their hopes in the FedExCup moving forward.
