Washington Nationals outfielder Michael Morse left Friday's game in the first inning after being hit in the right hand by a pitch from Philadelphia Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick at Citizens Bank Park.
Morse was hit in the fingers of his right hand when trying to check his swing during his first at-bat of the game. After a trainer attended to Morse on the field, Morse left the game. Morse was replaced in left field by Roger Bernadina. The Nationals have released that Morse suffered a hand contusion.
Morse is hitting .282 this season with 12 home runs and 45 RBI in 73 games played. A strained lat caused Morse to miss the first 50 games of the season but the Nationals have played very well with him in the lineup, going 47-25.
