U.S. Open Tennis Results 2012: Wozniacki Out, Williams Sisters, Tsonga, Roddick Advance

A shocking first-round upset of No. 8 Caroline Wozniacki highlighted Day 2 action from the U.S. Open at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadow, N.Y., as the former world No. 1 dropped her opening match in straight sets to unranked Irina-Camelia Begu, 6-2, 6-2.

Wozniacki's loss was counter to the multitude of favorites who claimed victory in the tournament's first two days, as the Williams sisters both advanced easily in first-round action. Serena Williams took care of Coco Vandeweghe, 6-1, 6-1, while her sister Venus bested American Bethanie Mattek-Sands, 6-3, 6-1.

The men's side of the draw also saw many favorites prevail, as No. 20 Andy Roddick was not broken against qualifier Rhyne Williams, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga topped Slovakian Karol Beck 6-3, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2). No. 2 Novak Djokovic similarly moved on to the second round with a straight-set victory over Paolo Lorenzi.
