The Washington Redskins announced the re-signing of of quarterback Jonathan Crompton on Wednesday, just two days after he was waived during the first round of roster cuts. But the Skins were not at the max 75-man roster threshold, so they brought back Crompton during the final week of the preseason.
It's likely Crompton will see some second-half action in the preseason finale against the Buccaneers on Wednesday night. Starter Robert Griffin III will not play, with fellow rookie Kirk Cousins getting the start. The second half snaps could be split by Rex Grossman and Crompton. The Tennessee product was a practice squad player last season and did not see the field in the Skins first three preseason games this year.
With the 53-man roster deadline coming Friday, it's a near certainty that another waiver is headed Crompton's way this week.
