2012 London Olympics: United States Finishes Sixth In Women's Double Sculls

With the second best time in the repechage on Tuesday, the United States women's double sculls team was the sixth and final team to qualify in the final race for a medal. On Friday, that USA rowing pairing was unable to do better than their sixth place seeding for the final and finished sixth without a medal.

Taking the gold was the host country, Great Britain, finishing nearly three seconds ahead of Australia. After Australia, Poland took the bronze, less than three seconds ahead of the final three finishers.

One of those three teams that was on the tail of Poland, but unable to earn a spot on the podium was the sixth place United States pair that featured Sarah Trowbridge, a native of Washington DC, working with Margot Shumway.
