2012 London Olympics: Michael Phelps Wins Men's 100m Butterfly

After a fourth-place finish in the 400m IM on the first Saturday of the 2012 Olympics, the medals have continued to pile up for Michael Phelps, and Friday night was no exception.

Racing in the 100m butterfly, Phelps took the gold medal in a time of 51.21, .23 seconds ahead of South Africa's Chad le Clos and Russia's Evgeny Korotyshkin, who tied for second.

Phelps, who was in 7th place at the 50m mark, picked up his 21st career Olympic medal and 17th gold. This was Phelps' final individual event of the London Games, though he is expected to compete in the 4 x 100m medley relay Saturday evening.

The race will be aired as part of NBC's primetime coverage, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday.
