Hampton, VA native T'erea Brown is getting her shot at Olympic glory in the 400m hurdles event at the 2012 London games, and her journey to the podium began on a good note, as she qualified for the semifinals with a time of 54.72 seconds.
She finished second place in her heat behind Zuzana Hejnová of the Czech Republic, who won the heat with a time of 53.96 seconds. The heat was a tough one for many runners, as two did not finish the race due to injuries.
Brown will now compete in the semifinals which are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. ET Monday. The finals will be run Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. ET.
