Richmond Vs. Virginia: Cavaliers Lead Spiders 22-6 At Halftime

The Virginia Cavaliers jumped out to an early 16-0 lead in their 2012 season opener against the Richmond Spiders, stretching the margin to 22-0 before the Spiders finally got on the board, with Richmond now trailing 22-6 at the half.

Virginia quarterback Michael Rocco was 14-23 in the first half, for 201 yards and a touchdown. Perry Jones has led the way on the ground for the Cavaliers, gaining 44 yards on eight carries, with fellow backfield mate Kevin Parks chipping in 32 yards and a rushing touchdown. Darius Jennings has been the beneficiary of Rocco's strong first half, catching four balls for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Richmond has been outgained 291 yards to 105 yards, and the Spiders' running game has been absolutely abysmal, amassing negative yards in the first half on 12 carries.
