The Virginia Tech Hokies and Pittsburgh Panthers will meet on Saturday afternoon at Heinz Field.
The No. 13 Hokies have looked pretty impressive in the early going, sporting a 2-0 record despite a serious scare against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in their opener. Last Saturday, Frank Beamer's club stepped up and dispatched the Austin Peay Governors with ease, 42-7.
Logan Thomas was especially on his game against Austin Peay. The 6'6'' junior quarterback completed 15-of-23 for 212 yards including a pair of touchdowns.
Virginia Tech's defense also put forth a spirited performance, limiting the Governors to just 62 passing yards on 21 attempts while snatching two interceptions.
Pittsburgh has been a disaster early on, losing handily at home to the Youngstown State Penguins 31-17 and then on the road in their Big East debut to the Cincinnati Bearcats, 34-10.
Against Cincinnati last week the Panthers were gashed for 259 rushing yards on just 31 attempts, coming out to an average of 8.4 yards per carry.
