Brandon Meriweather Injury: Redskins Safety Hopes To Return Against Cincinnati

Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is hoping to make his regular season debut against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Redskins' home opener on Sunday. Meriweather has missed the first two games of the season due to a sprained PCL and MCL in his left knee.

He was able to exercise with his teammates prior to Week 2's loss to the St. Louis Rams and remains optimistic about Sunday. Via WashingtonTimes.com:

"I'm going to try," Meriweather said Monday morning. "Every day getting better. I'm working hard to get back and help my team.

"I can say I'm better than I was last week," Meriweather. "Every day we try something different. Right now we're more focused on straight ahead and the lateral stuff."

Meriweather has been out since injuring his left knee during a preseason game on Aug. 18. He was expected to be ready for the start of the regular season before spraining the two ligaments on Sept. 3.
