U.S. Open Tennis 2012 Scores: Andy Roddick Advances To Fourth Round With Win On Sunday

Andy Roddick's impending retirement will have to wait at least one more match, as he advanced to the fourth round of the 2012 U.S. Open on Sunday with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 6-4 win over Fabio Fognini at Arthur Ashe Stadium. 36 unforced errors were Fognini's undoing in the match, as the Italian failed to capitalize against a tired Roddick in the fourth set.

Roddick, the 2003 U.S. Open champion, will now face Juan Martin del Potro, the 2009 title winner, in the quarterfinals. The Argentinian defeated countryman Leonardo Mayer on Sunday in Flushing Meadows, 6-3, 7-5, 7-6 (11-9), in a match that took three hours and 20 minutes.

Del Potro, the No. 7 seed at this year's Open, is the last man not named Federer, Nadal or Djokovic to win a title in the past 30 majors contested.
