Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati 2012: Late Munchie Legaux TD pass leads Bearcats To 27-24 Victory

The Cincinnati Bearcats won in dramatic fashion Saturday afternoon at FedEx Field, scoring a touchdown with just 13 seconds left in the game to knock off the Virginia Tech Hokies, 27-24.

Munchie Legaux connected with Damon Julian from 39 yards out on the game-winning touchdown pass. Julian caught four balls in the game, for 89 yards and the score.

The Hokies were hurt by two turnovers and eight penalties for 114 yards in the game. A late Logan Thomas touchdown pass to Corey Fuller looked to give Virginia Tech a win, only to have Legaux and the Bearcats drive 85 yards in a minute and a half to win the game.

Box Score Hero: A Man Named Munchie. Legaux threw for a career-high 357 yards in the game, completing 19 of 42 passes and tossing three touchdowns. The Cincinnati quarteback drove his team 85 yards with no timeouts to score the winning points.

Rankings Ramifications: Both teams found themselves in the "others receiving votes" portion of the latest AP Top 25 poll, with Virginia Tech garnering 26 votes to just 10 for Cincinnati. The Bearcats' win probably earns them a few more votes.

But Did They Cover: Virginia Tech, 6.5-point favorites, did not cover.

Next Week's Schedule: Next Saturday, Virginia Tech travels to Kenan Stadium to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET. Cincinnati will host the Miami (OH) RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. ET at Nippert Stadium.
