Virginia Tech wide receiver D.J. Coles has left Monday's game with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and will not return.
Coles, a senior, had 36 catches for 480 yards and three touchdowns in 2011, but underwent offseason PCL surgery. His injury is not related to that surgery, according to the official team Twitter account. He has caught passes in 15 games for Virginia Tech throughout his collegiate career.
Coles did not have a reception before leaving Monday night's contest. Quarterback Logan Thomas has instead turned his focus to wide receivers Marcus Davis and Corey Fuller. Davis leads the team thus far with four receptions for 48 yards and one touchdown. Fuller has two receptions for 25 yards.
Coles exited in the second quarter with his team tied 7-7 and with his offense stalling on three consecutive drives.
