Rain suspended play at the U.S. Open on Tuesday, effectively ending the day session. Tuesday's featured match between No. 20 Andy Roddick and No. 7 Juan Martin del Potro is still scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. EST if the rain lets up.
No. 4 David Ferrer was not able to complete his match against No. 13 Richard Gasquet before the day session was suspended. Ferrer leads the Frenchman 7-5, 7-6 (7-2), 4-3 and is up 30-15 in a Gasquet service game. The two will attempt to end their match during the evening session.
On the women's side, No. 1 Victoria Azarenka defeated defending champion No. 7 Samantha Stosur 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5). Azarenka will advance to face the winner of the match between No. 3 Maria Sharapova and No. 11 Marion Bartoli. Bartoli was leading 4-0 in the first set when play was suspended, but that match will not be resumed until Wednesday.
