The 2012 BMW Championship is set to get underway on Thursday from Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. and three golfers with ties to the D.C. area are set to compete: Marc Leishman, Johnson Wagner and Brendan de Jong.
In the FedEx Cup standings, Wagner is currently ranked 34th, Leishman is ranked 37th and de Jong is ranked 65th through last week's Deutsche Bank Championship.
The event itself replaced the Western Open and is only open to the top 70 PGA Tour golfers. Once concluded, the top 30 FedEx points leaders will advance to The Tour Championship which will then determine the 2012 FedEx Cup Champion.
Justin Rose won last year's BMW Championship and Tiger Woods holds the tournament record by finishing at 22-under par back in 2007, the first year of the tournament. Both golfers are set to compete beginning Thursday.
More info on the tournament can be found at the BMW Championship's official website.
