Virginia Tech made quick work of the visiting Austin Peay Governors on Saturday, as the Hokies stormed out to a 28-0 lead on their way to a 42-7 win at Blacksburg's Lane Stadium.
Hokies quarterback Logan Thomas and running back Michael Holmes were the offensive stars of the game. Thomas was 15 of 23 passing for 212 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions, while Holmes ran nine times for 40 yards and two touchdowns.
As a team, Virginia tech amassed 419 yards of total offense to just 221 for the overmatched Governors. Austin Peay mustered just 62 passing yards in the game, with Governors quarterback Jake Ryan 8 of 21 in the game, with two interceptions.
Virginia Tech improves to 2-0 on the season with the victory, and will hit the road next week, at Pittburgh's Heinz Field to take on the Pitt Panthers.
