Saturday play at the U.S. Open was hampered by some severe weather, but Britain's Andy Murray outlasted the elements and Tomas Berdych to advance to the men's final at the 2012 U.S. Open. It will be the fifth Grand Slam final appearance of Murray's career.
Murray advanced 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (7) over Berdych in a rain-delayed match that took three hours and 58 minutes. Berdych was more distracted by the environment, committing a whopping 64 unforced errors to just 20 for Murray.
The 2012 Open is the first major championship since the 2004 French to not have Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal competing in the semifinals. Murray will face the winner of Saturday's second semifinal match between Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer. No Brit has won a Grand Slam in the past 76 years.
