Nationals Vs. Marlins Game Recap: Washington Shutout, 8-0, In Series Finale

The Miami Marlins defeated the Washington Nationals, 8-0, on Sunday at Nationals Park. The Nationals dropped two games in the three-game set. Despite the loss on Sunday, the Nationals remain 5.5 games ahead of the Braves in the NL East race.

The Marlins got all the runs they would need with a three-run second inning. Miami added two runs in the fourth inning and a single run in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings.

Edwin Jackson got the start for the Nationals but was chased after 4 2/3 innings after surrendering six earned runs and two walks on nine hits. Ricky Nolasco pitched a complete game shutout for the Marlins. Nolasco gave up just four hits in nine innings of work.

The Nationals (86-54) will begin their next series against the New York Mets (65-75) on Monday at Citi Field.
