The Navy Midshipmen lost their third straight game Wednesday night, falling to the IPFW Mastadons, 68-63, on the road in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Tied at 32 at the half, the Midshipmen led for just a couple minutes in the second stanza, but a three from Frank Gaines put the Mastadons ahead for good and was part of a 10-0 run to seal the victory for IPFW.

Worth Smith and Brandon Venturini each scored 17 points to lead Navy and combine for more than half of the team's scoring. Venturini was also 5-8 from three and Smith pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Though the Midshipmen shot 10-19 from three-point range for the game, they attempted just nine free throws and turned the ball over 15 times.

Luis Jacobo led IPFW with a game-high 22 points, as Gaines added 17. Joe Edwards provided 15 of the Mastadons' 21 bench points.

Navy will be back on the road Jan. 5 when it takes on Norfolk State in a 5 p.m. contest, before Patriot League play begins on Jan. 12.
